Multi-fluid detection and accumulation in vortex shedding flowmeters

A vortex shedding flowmeter includes a flow tube configured to receive a process fluid flow. A vortex street generator is disposed within the flow tube and is configured to generate a vortex in the process fluid flow. A vortex sensor is disposed to sense vortices generated by the vortex street generator in the process fluid flow. Measurement electronics are operably coupled to the vortex sensor and configured to detect an analog signal of the vortex sensor and provide a digital indication related to the analog signal of the vortex sensor. The processor is configured to receive the digital indication and calculate a velocity of the process fluid flow based on a frequency of the digital indication. The processor is further configured to measure a magnitude of the digital indication and estimate a density of the process fluid based on the measured magnitude.
