The method comprises the steps of determining Rayleigh scattering power of an optical fiber according to parameter data of the optical fiber in the cable; determining the Rayleigh scattering power of the optical fiber at any point according to the peak power of the optical fiber at any point and the Rayleigh scattering power of the optical fiber; according to the Rayleigh scattering power of the optical fiber at any point and the distance between any point and the transmitting end of the cable anti-damage early warning device, determining a relational expression of the power and the distance of the pulsed light transmitted back to the receiver; and determining the position from the damage point to the transmitting end according to the relational expression of the power of the pulsed light returned to the receiver and the distance.
