Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a process for the catalytic decomposition of lignin with high yield and high selectivity for phenolic structural units and with minimal formation of coke fractions, and to a catalyst suitable for use in the process. The catalyst comprises an alkaline support material, platinum in a weight percentage of 1-10% by weight and nickel in a weight percentage of 0-5% by weight.
