Apparatus and method for ultrasonic fingerprint and touch sensing

An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor may include sensor pixels having interlaced ultrasonic sensitive areas. Each of a plurality of sensor pixels in an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor may include nine different ultrasonic sensitive areas electrically coupled to a common readout circuit, wherein an ultrasonic sensitive area of another sensor pixel is disposed between the nine different ultrasonic sensitive areas. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor may also include circuitry for binning the sensor pixel groups together during certain lower resolution operations, such as touch sensor operations.
