Article of apparel comprising at least one three-dimensional profile and method of making same

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing at least a portion of a garment comprising at least one three-dimensional profile. The disclosed method includes providing a fiber and solvent mixture including fibers and a solvent capable of causing the creation of a plurality of covalent bonds between the fibers. In many embodiments, the plurality of covalent bonds are formed when a catalyst, such as heat, is provided to the fiber and solvent mixture. The process may be performed using, for example, a 3D printer or mold. The fibers used may be natural, synthetic, or a blend of natural and/or synthetic fibers.
