Improved process for production of polycarbonates with recovery of unreacted diaryl carbonates

The invention relates to a method for producing polycarbonates from diphenols and diaryl carbonates according to the melt transesterification process. Here, the diaryl carbonate is obtained by reacting a monophenol with a carbonyl halide.
