The invention discloses a nasal mask system. A nasal mask defining a breathing chamber for delivering a supply of positive pressure gas into an airway of a patient includes a side wall and a pad positioned rearward of the side wall adjacent to the side wall, a rear sealing surface of the pad having a profile formed with a concave curvature in a top lip region to have a shape complementary to the top lip region, the rear surface of the pad is contoured to extend from a nose bridge region to respective left and right nose corner regions along respective left and right sides of the nose in use, adapted to extend from the left side of the nose to the right side of the nose along the top lip, the pad includes a relatively thicker auxiliary band formed of a resiliently flexible material and extending from the sidewalls to form respective cantilevers in a top lip region, corner region, and nasal side region of the pad, the top lip region cantilevers having a C-shaped cross-section, and a relatively thinner facial fl
