The preparation method of the bismuthyl carbonate based photocatalytic material comprises the following steps: dispersing carbon nano spheres into an organic solvent, and recording as A; dissolving bismuth nitrate in a mixed solution of nitric acid and an organic solvent to obtain B; slowly dropwise adding B into A under a stirring condition, and mixing to obtain C, wherein the mass ratio of the carbon nano spheres to bismuth nitrate is 0.05%-4%; subjecting the C to solvothermal reaction, and washing and drying the obtained product to obtain 3D hollow Bi/Bi2O2CO3, wherein the reaction temperature of the solvothermal reaction is 120-180 DEG C, and the reaction time is 4-16 hours; and roasting the Bi/Bi2O2CO3 at the temperature of between 200 and 550 DEG C for 1.8 to 2.2 hours, so as to obtain the bismuthyl carbonate based photocatalytic material.
