The invention relates to a lobe pump having: a pump housing with a pump chamber; an inlet opening and an outlet opening; a first multi-vaned rotary piston, which is situated in the pump chamber and is mounted rotatably about a first rotation axis; a second multi-vaned rotary piston, which is situated in the pump chamber and is mounted rotatably about a second rotation axis at a distance from the first rotation axis and meshes with the first rotary piston, the first and second rotary pistons being driveable in opposite directions and being designed to generate a flow of the conveyed medium from the inlet opening through the pump chamber to the outlet opening by oppositely directed rotation about the first and second rotation axes; and a drive device which is mechanically coupled to the rotary pistons to drive the rotary pistons.
