The algorithm comprises the following steps: acquiring a to-be-processed grayscale image of a current frame; automatically calculating an effective gray level threshold value of a gray level histogram corresponding to the gray level image based on an iterative algorithm. According to the effective gray level threshold value, gray level equal-interval density equilibrium conversion is carried out on the gray level histogram, in the conversion process, when a mapping gray level value corresponding to the gray level after enhancement is calculated, threshold value limitation is carried out on the interval after gray level equal-interval rearrangement, and gray level offset correction is carried out on the mapping gray level value; and an enhanced image corresponding to the grayscale image is obtained after the grayscale equal-interval density equalization conversion is completed.
