The invention provides a paving operation speed measuring method for a paver. The method comprises the steps of S1, establishing a paver construction plane coordinate system, and initializing a sampling frequency of a GPS receiver; S2, in an operation process of the paver, sequentially collecting longitude and latitude coordinates of the position of the paver by the GPS receiver according to the sampling frequency; S3, converting the longitude and latitude coordinates obtained at a current sampling time point to the paver construction plane coordinate system so as to obtain current construction plane coordinates; S4, calculating current operation speed of the paver according to the current construction plane coordinates, construction plane coordinates at a previous sampling time point andthe sampling frequency; and S5, repeating the steps S2 to S4 until the paver stops operation.
