The converter is pre-charged in an open circuit state, whether sub-modules are abnormal or not is detected at the same time, then short-circuit charging is carried out on the converter after processing the abnormality until converter meets conditions of putting into operation. The scheme can eliminate abnormal sub-modules before the formal charging, and enables a valve groupto complete pre-charging before executing the short-circuit charging at the same time, thereby reducing the complexity of short-circuit charging at the DC side, simplifying the charging strategy, andcreating good conditions for stably putting the converter into operation.
