A spring bumper nose retaining feature for a shock absorber is provided. The shock absorber includes an elastomeric spring bumper which engages a spring bumper cap during relatively large compressionmovements of the shock absorber. The spring bumper cap includes the spring bumper nose retaining feature which engages the nose of the spring bumper during the compression movements.
