The health food for protecting the liver is prepared from haws, radix salviae miltiorrhizae, Chinese magnoliavine fruits, radix astragali and kudzu root. The invention simultaneously provides a preparation method of the health food, comprising the steps: taking the Chinese magnoliavine fruits, radix salviae miltiorrhizae and kudzu root, adding ethanol, and performing heating reflux extraction, mixing the filtrates, and concentrating the mixed filtrate into thick paste; taking the haws and radix astragali, adding water for decocting, mixing the filtrates, concentrating the mixed filtrate into thick paste to be mixed with the former thick paste, performing pressure-reduction drying, pulverizing the dried thick paste into fine powder, performing granulating with ethanol, performing granule separation, performing tabletting and performing coating with films.
