The method comprises the following steps of: S1: carrying out off-line index generation by a Master subsystem, and deploying indexes generated offline into a Slave subsystem, wherein the indexes generated offline comprise a full-quantity index and an incremental index; and S2: providing search service for outside by the Slave subsystem according to the indexes generated offline. When the search method and system is implemented, the Master subsystem adopts offline index generation, and the complexity of implementation and the influence of index generation and switching on on-line services are lowered.
