Zusammenfassung: | An on-line thickness defect detection system (30) for detecting a thickness defect (31a) in a fibrous member (31), such as textile yarns produced from a spinning machine, and related processes are disclosed. The thickness defect detection system (30) includes first and second fiber contacting members (32, 34) where at least one of the contacting members (32, 34) is shiftable relative to the other contacting member (32, 34). Thickness defect monitoring is done by biased the contacting members (32, 34) towards each other and against the running fibrous member (31) and measuring variations of the distance between the contacting members (32, 34) using an accelerometer.
