According to the improved QEM three-dimensional model simplifying method, through differential approximation of countless planar triangles to a smooth grid surface, the bending degree at each vertex can be described by means of surface curvature of differential geometry. For keeping the sharp characteristic in the grid before and after simplification, grid simplification quality can be controlled through measurement to the vertex curvature change.
