description The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for transmitting host and backup mechanism data of a distributed file system. The method comprises the steps that: a host metadata server establishes a connection with a backup metadata server after determining that the backup metadata server is started up; the host metadata server receives a data request sent by a client, determines a corresponding backup type according to the data request, performing data processing on data carried by the data request, and stores the processed data in a specified memory; and the data in the specified memory is sent to the backup metadata server according to the backup type. The data is asynchronously copied, so that the data operation efficiency of the host metadata server is improved on the basis of ensuring transmission reliability.
