Method for breeding hybrid rice

The invention provides a method for breeding hybrid rice. The method comprises the following steps of (1) processing a maintainer line T98B through 60Co-gamma rays so as to obtain a photo-thermo sensitive sterile line T98S; and (2) preparing a hybridized combination, the yield of which is increased by above 3%, by taking the T98S as a female parent and a non-wild-abortive restore line R as a male parent, and screening a strong-superiority hybridized combination T98S/R. According to the invention, the good maintainer line is rapidly converted into the photo-thermo sensitive sterile line through artificial mutation; the restoring and maintaining restriction of three lines is broken; the utilization efficiency of the restore line is increased; and selective breeding of the strong-superiority hybridized combination is accelerated.
