description The invention provides a UPS and a control method thereof. A rectifier converts commercial power into DC power for detection by a control processor, when detecting that voltage is higher than set voltage, the control processor controls a first switch to be switched on, power is supplied by direct use of the commercial power, and at the same time, a part of the commercial power is distributed to a charger to charge a battery; and when detecting that the voltage is smaller the set voltage, the control processor controls the first switch to be switched off, and an inverter inverses the voltage of the battery into AC commercial power voltage for output. According to the invention, the inverter is at a work state only when the battery works, such that the power consumption can be reduced, and the life is prolonged. Besides, AC output and DC voltage output are independently controlled, such that power can be supplied to different devices.
