A washing machine (29) that communicates wirelessly with a terminal device (28), the washing machine (29) being provided with a control unit for controlling communication and the running of the washing machine (29), and an operation display unit (37) for setting and displaying a running course, the operation display unit (37) being arranged in the left/right direction on an upper part of the washing machine (29). The operation display unit (37) has a power-on switch for turning on the power, a display unit (26) for displaying the settings of the running course, and a washing machine transceiver unit (38) for communicating with the terminal device (28). The control unit receives with the washing machine transceiver unit (38) information about the running course transmitted from the terminal device (28), and displays the running course and controls the running on the basis of the information about the running course. The power-on switch is arranged on the left or right side of the operation display unit (37), and the washing machine transceiver unit (38) is arranged on the other of the two sides of the operation display unit (37), which is the side opposite to the position where the power-on switch is arranged.
