description The invention discloses a method and device for software upgrading. The method comprises the steps that an obtained upgrading configuration file is determined to be a first upgrading configuration file; according to the first upgrading configuration file, whether a part of files in software to be upgraded need to be upgraded is judged, and the part of the files comprise non-installation program files in the software to be upgraded; if there are files needing upgrading, first-version files corresponding to the files needing upgrading are downloaded, and the version number of the first-version files is higher than that of the corresponding files needing upgrading in the software to be upgraded; the downloaded first-version files are used for upgrading the files needing upgrading to finish upgrading of the software to be upgraded. By means of the method and device, the problems that bandwidth is occupied in the software upgrading process, device load is increased, and upgrading efficiency is low are solved.
