Golf bag with retention strap to retract legs on application of external force

A golf bag 100 having a retraction mechanism 108 and a plurality of legs 134,136 pivotally attached to the body of the bag. The bag has a retention system 106 including a biasing portion 112 having ends 118,120 attached to two portions of an elongated body,and a retention strap (511, Figures 13-15) which is engaged to the biasing portion and the retraction mechanism. The retention strap may be substantially perpendicular to the biasing portion,may be a band, strap, cord or rope,and the second end of the retention strap may be looped around the retention mechanism. The first end of the retention strap may be integral with the biasing portion, or bay be sewn to the biasing portion. There may be a channel (522) defined through the elongated body, wherein the retention strap is received through the channel. The retraction mechanism may comprise a spring wire.
