The assessment method performs grid division at the area to be detected to form at least one basic assessment unit and calculates vulnerability quantization value of different factors to electricity grid lightning strike damage in each of the basic assessment unit, wherein the factors comprises thunder and lightning density, thunderbolt density, climate background, geographical environment and underlying surface land type. The assessment method and device effectively overcome the problem of inaccurate assessment results due to single evaluation index in the prior art. The assessment method of the invention can assess the electricity grid lightning strike damage in a way of all respects and multi-factor.
