The method takes carbolic acid and alpha-olefine as the raw material, and takes specific positive ion exchange resin as the alkanization reaction catalyser to perform the alkanization reaction, and then neutralization reaction, carboxylation reaction and high alkalinity reaction areperformed to prepare the alkyl radical sodium salicylate lubricating oil metallic detergent. The product compounded by the invention has better appearance and color, and excellent high temperature detergent, also has excellent thermal stability, low temperature dispersibility, anti oxygen, anticorrosion property, and a certain extreme pressure antifriction property, and is lubricating oil additive with high performance.
