Method for assembling a bearing

The invention relates to a method for assembling a bearing (1) in a cover element (2) of a machine part, which is embodied at least in part in a rotationally symmetrical manner. In order to be able to mount the bearing in a simple and precise fashion, the inventive method comprises the following steps: a) the bearing (1) is disposed on a reference surface (9) of an assembly pin (6); b) at least one stop surface (4) of the cover element (2) is placed on and fastened to at least one reference surface (5) of the assembly pin (6); c) the bearing (1) is fixed inside the cover element (2) on the support surface (7) thereof in a position that is defined relative to the assembly pin (6); d) the cover element (2) is removed from the assembly pin (6) along with the bearing (1) that is mounted therein; e) the cover element (2) is mounted in the machine part (3) together with the bearing (1) that is mounted therein, the stop surface (4) of the cover element (2) being made to rest on a reference surface (10) of the machin
