Gas/liquid countercurrent contact apparatus

The gas/liquid countercurrent contact apparatus has a housing (1) with branches (2, 3) for introducing gas into the lower part of the housing (1) and for discharging gas from the upper part of the housing (1), and branches (4, 5) for introducing liquid into the upper part of the housing (1) and for discharging liquid from the lower part of the housing (1). In the housing (1), watered plates designed in the form of open-topped grooves (7) are arranged one above the other and combined into individual packs (6). The grooves (7) have inclined edge walls (8, 9) diverging towards opposite sides and are arranged along a descending spiral in such a way that channels (10, 11) for gas passage in the vertical direction remain in the housing (1) between the edge walls (8, 9) of the grooves (7) and the walls of the housing. In the channels (10, 11), guide partitions (13, 14) are fitted horizontally which completely block the channels (10 and 11) and deflect the gas stream from one channel into the other via gaps (12) between the grooves (7) in the direction from one edge wall (8) of the grooves (7) to the other edge wall (9). The apparatus is used especially in rectification under vacuum.
