description 1335482 Sample cells for optical apparatus INSTRUMENTATION LABORATORY Inc 17 May 1971 [12 June 1970] 15283/71 Heading G2J An optical cuvette assembly is designed for use in automatic photometric apparatus as described in Application No. 15284/71. The assembly is made of glass, polyolefin, polycarbonate or acrylic material and comprises a handle portion 62 and three chambers 60. It tapers inwardly towards its base and is formed with optical surfaces 70, which define optical cells which are of equal path length for all three chambers. A prefered material for the assembly is TPX methylpentare polyolefin having 25 per cent transmission at 3400Š. The assembly is supplied containing reagent in one or more of the chambers 60 so that it is specific to a particular type of analysis, information about which is secured to the surfaces of handle portion 62. Test and standard samples may be introduced into the chambers by breaking frangible sections 74 in the cover member 48 which has previously been ultrasonically welded to the body. Interlock tabs 76 are provided on the top of handle portion and can be broken off as required to provide coding information to control the incubation period after addition of test sample etc.
