description | 922,690. Moulding foamed synthetic resins. F. VETTER, [trading as JAKOB VETTER TONWARENFABRIK]. Nov. 15, 1961 [Nov. 16, 1960], No. 40784/61. Class 87(2). In a method of moulding articles from foamed polystyrol the sequence of operations is controlled by an electric programming switch 13 which may be adjusted manually. The charging slide 12 is filled with material and pushed over the open moulds formed by the core 2, the rings 9 and the outer surface 4. A predetermined amount of material is either sucked into the mould by connecting the hollow porous core to a vacuum system or forced in by air pressure applied to the top of the charging slide. The slide is withdrawn and the tops of the mould 7 descend to close the mould. Steam is then supplied to the hollow core and the moulding performed. After curing, the steam supply is cut-off and a cooling water supply connected, after which any excess water left in the mould is forced out by compressed air or sucked out by a vacuum. After removing the top 7 the articles are removed by raising rings 9 and are pushed into a container (not shown) by the leading edge of the slide 12 which is returning to fill the now empty moulds. |
