description 997,059. Seats. BOSTROM CORPORATION. Aug. 7, 1963 [June 13, 1963], No. No. 31125/63. Headings A4J and A4U. A vehicle seat comprises a seat frame 14 and a back frame 20 pivotally secured at 88 to a mounting member 10, a seat pan 16 pivoted at its front end to the seat frame 14, a back pan 22 slidably mounted in the back frame 20 and pivotally connected at its bottom end to the back end of the seat pan 16, and resilient means 26 (Fig. 5) operatively connected to the back pan and vibrationally isolating the seat and back pans from the vibrations of the vehicle. The position of the seat frame 14 with respect to the mounting member 10 is controlled by two seat adjustment cams 114 on a rotatable rod 116. The back frame 20 is retained in the rearwardly inclined position by back adjustment cams 96 secured to a rod 98 provided with two stop pins 100 by means of which the cam can be positioned in three separate stations to vary the position of the back frame. The seat pan has two tubular support members 28 having tabs 30 with slots 34 and tabs 32 with slots 36. The slots 34 receive the ends 38 of a support member 40 welded to the seat frame 14 and the slots 36 receive back pan guide rods 46. The rods 46 are attached to the back pan and engage nylon bearing surfaces 60 on the seat frame. A shock absorber 26 is secured to a flange 58 on the back frame and to a bracket 50 on the back pan 22. Coil springs 24 are mounted between the flange 58 and a bracket 82 which is adjustably secured to the shock absorber bracket 50 by a bolt 84. The bolt can be adjusted to adapt the seat for various loads and road conditions.
