The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a bushing. The bushing is preferably intended for higher voltages, from 36 kV up to 800 kv and above. The bushing may preferably be used with a transformer but also with a cable termination. Un isolateur de traversée (1) pour un courant et/ou une tension électrique traversant une carte à la masse (2) comprenant un corps isolant (3) à symétrie de rotation entourant un conducteur électrique central (4). L'isolateur de traversée comporte, entre le conducteur et le corps d'isolateur, un joint d'étanchéité (5) s'opposant au passage de gaz ou de liquides, et fait d'un corps en papier à la résine. Selon l'invention, le joint de l'isolateur est compressible (6). L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication de l'isolateur. Ce dernier est de préférence prévu pour les hautes tensions allant de 36 kV à 800 kV au moins. Cet isolateur de traversée s'utilisera de préférence sur un transformateur, mais également sur une terminaison de câble.
