description This invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of dry-pressed brick from clay which includes at least the steps of: screening the clay to a me sh size between 4 to 20 openings per inch; pressing the clay into at least one die to fo rm at least one compacted green brick having a density range of 2.10 to 2.35 g/cc; firing th e green brick in a kiln to a temperature of at least 1,800.degree.F to form at least one fired brick; cooling the fired brick to a room temperature; and sealing the brick with a sealing agen t selected from the group consisting of siliconates, silicone emulsions, silane masterbatch es, polysiloxanes, polysiloxane derivatives, silicone microemulsions and blends ther eof. The process can further include the step of brushing a top surface of the green bric k so as to impart a plurality of ridges on the top surface to achieve a skid/slip resistanc e of 0.8 according to the American Disabilities Act. The problem of efflorescence is mini mized by practicing the invention.
