description 1523907 Disc refiners BELOIT CORP 1 Oct 1975 [3 Oct 1974] 40096/75 Heading B2A A refining disc has a central aperture and refining surfaces defined on its two faces. As described, when applied to a double disc refiner all discs are reversible and are held in place by flanges at the inner and outer rims and also by a tongue and grooved connection between segments 99, Fig. 4. The rotor discs are 24, 26 Fig. 5 secured by a cap 89 and screws 94, and the stator discs 16, 17 by wedge members 84, 87. The radially-inner flanges 42, 39 of the head 19 and end wall 14 are separate from the head 19 and end wall 14 and are held in adjustable engagement therewith by bolts 97, 98. The segments are formed of moulded and/ or machined plastics or metal. A second interconnection method for a backing head 106 and refining disc 107 includes bolts 114 passing through sleeves 117, Fig. 7 to space and locate the disc 107 relative to the backing head 106 and prevent orientation problems, when the disc is reversed. The double disc refiner may be operated in series or parallel in known manner.
