The unlatching element surrounds the first and second releasing tabs in the plugged state of the electrical plug connector so as to contact the first releasing tab on a first side and to contact the second releasing tab on an opposing side. The unlatching element is displaceable in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the electrical plug connector. In the plugged state, the connector is configured to receive a tool between the unlatching element and at least one of the first releasing tab and the second releasing tab.
