Date Jun. 20, 1996A method for identifying anti-convulsant compounds is presented. The binding of test compounds with a receptor obtained from rat forebrain is determined. The receptor has a Kd of about 40 nM and a molecular weight of about 130 kD. Two pyran compounds that bind to the receptor are also disclosed.
