Zusammenfassung:The method is used in the production of cylindrical billets without the necessity to have basic surfaces. It ensures a continuous process by milling without fixing the billet between centres, increases productivity and offers possibility for machining billets with unlimited length. The main rotary cutting motion is achieved by a facing cutter positioned at right angle and crosses toward the axis of the billet at distance "a" from it. The billet performs simultaneously longitudinal and circular - advancing movements by moving along a screw trajectory at an attack angle of the screw line α determined by the equationwhere Sn is the advance in longitudinal direction, D3 - the diameter of the milled billet. Leading is carried out by the cylindrical surface of the machined billet.
