Upon depositing a coating of a predetermined thickness, an oxygen-containing redox gas or gaseous mixture is fed into the vacuum chamber and the cutting tool is heated up to the temperature of the eutectoid decomposition in the pseudobinary 'iron-titanium' system. Thereupon the cutting tool is subjected to annealing in an atmosphere of the oxygen-containing redox gas or gaseous mixture for 10 to 40 minutes at the temperature of the martensitic transformation in the pseudobinary 'iron-titanium' system. |
