Zusammenfassung: | 1512710 Polyoxyalkylene polyols; polyurethane foam UNION CARBIDE CORP 12 Nov 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 46762/75 Headings C3R and C3P A normally liquid polyol consists essentially of: (I) polyoxyalkylene blocks comprising polyoxyalkylene groups containing at least 3 carbon atoms; (II) blocks of polyoxyethylene units at least 35% of which end-block units I and are terminated with primary OH groups and (III) the residue of a starter containing active hydrogen atoms. The polyol contains 90-97% by wt. of units I, e.g. polyoxypropylene blocks, and 10-3% by wt. of blocks of units II. It has an average of at least 3À2 OH groups per molecule, a hydroxyl number #45. At least 35 % of the OH groups present are primary. Another embodiment of the invention comprises a polymer/polyol mixture obtained by polymerizing a minor amount of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a polyol as defined above. A typical monomer mixture comprises 40-85% by wt. of acrylonitrile and 60-15% by wt. of styrene. The resultant mixture may comprise 3-35% by wt. of polymer and 97-65% by wt. of polyol. Elastomeric polyurethane may be obtained by reacting a polyol or polyol/ polymer mixture as defined above with an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a catalyst for the polyurethane forming reaction. Foam, suitable for upholstery, may be prepared by conducting the reaction in the presence of a blowing agent and a silicone surfactant. |
