description The proposed method of forming an image involves converting an information signal, recording it in a memory unit, and subsequently reading off the information signal thus recorded according to a control program using a scanner unit and forwarding it to an image medium with the aid of a videosignal generating unit. In the process of transmitting the separated information field, an additional information signal can be applied to the memory unit input which is then recorded in free memory locations or in previously read memory locations and can be modulated at the same time. The device contains a memory unit whose information output is connected to the input of the videosignal generating unit whose output is connected to the input of the scanning unit one of whose outputs is connected to the input of the image medium, the second output being connected to the control input of the memory unit. The videosignal generating unit can be linked optically to the image medium via the scanning unit. The image medium can take the form of a set of emitting elements and the memory unit can take the form of a permanent memory unit, magnetic memory unit, optical memory unit or magnetic-optical memory unit. The scanning unit can take the form of Nipkow disks, a mechano-optical system, electron beam tube with a sweep unit, or a matrix screen with sweep unit. The videosignal generating unit can take the form of an electron beam tube, light-emitting diode or laser. The memory units and videosignal generating and scanning units can contain a modulator.
