Zusammenfassung:	Provided is an energy storage system, comprising M energy storage batteries connected in series and a communication link. Each energy storage battery is correspondingly provided with a unique controller, and the controller can control the corresponding energy storage battery to be connected into the energy storage system and be bypassed from the energy storage system. Each controller performs the following equalization control method: acquiring a first state value of a corresponding energy storage battery, sending the first state value to the remaining M-1 controllers on the basis of the communication link, and receiving second state values sent by the remaining M-1 controllers; and on the basis of the first state value and the M-1 second state values, determining that the corresponding energy storage battery is connected into the energy storage system or is bypassed from the energy storage system. Therefore, the availability of the energy storage system is improved.
