Rope hoist

Provided is a rope hoist that can be dimensionally constrained, even when a braking resistor is attached. A rope hoist (10) that raises/lowers a load via a wire rope (W) and that comprises a frame structure (20) that rotatably supports wheels (41), a rope drum mechanism (30) that is provided on one width-direction side of the frame structure (20) and that comprises a drum motor (33) that rotates a rope drum (31), a counterweight (80) that is provided on the other width-direction side of the frame structure (20) and that is arranged so as to be separated by a space (SP) from the frame structure (20), and a control unit (90) that performs inverter control of the drum motor (33) and that is attached to the counterweight (80) on a side that is opposite from the rope drum mechanism (30). A braking resistance unit (100) that processes the regenerated electric power of the inverter control is attached to a rope drum mechanism (30) side of the counterweight (80) so as to be positioned in the space (SP).
