Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Risk factor (RF1) for diagnosing genetic predisposition to atherosclerosis comprises a mutation in the blood coagulation factor VII-activating protein (FSAP). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) risk factor (RF2) for atherosclerosis that is a reduced potential for activation of single-chain plasminogen activators (A), especially pro-urokinase; (2) recognizing a genetically dependent predisposition to develop atherosclerosis, or formation of thrombi, by detecting in a body fluid, especially plasma, reduced FSAP-antigen concentration or reduced FSAP activity; (3) test system for method (2); and (4) determining antibodies against FSAP and/or its mutant by incubating test sample with a solid phase to which FSAP and/or its mutant are bound, then washing and detecting bound antibodies.
