The filled bags are fed in rows located one after the other, each row containing at least two bags, to the feed end of a conveyor provided with carriers, each row of bags being guided in the space between two successive carriers, the distance between the carriers essentially corresponding to the thickness of the bags. The rows of bags, standing on a short edge, are moved with the aid of the conveyer provided with carriers (15) into a position opposite a pusher element that pushes the rows of bags out of the gap between the carriers onto an essentially horizontal conveyor belt provided with side guides, which conveyor belt feeds the group of bags positioned alongside one another and one after the other into the filling/shaping/sealing machine.
