The screw cylinder (1) is releasably connected to the drive device (2) and is pivotable, independently of the drive device (2), about a pivot axis (6) which extends vertically at a spacing in front of its rear end. The screw cylinder (1) and/or the drive device (2) are arranged to be movable separately from each other on the injection molding machine in the axial direction of the injection unit in order for the rear end of the screw to be pulled out of the drive device (2) after the connection has been released.
