The invention relates to a device for winding material webs onto winding shafts. Said device consists of a mobile bearing, which retains the winding shaft during the winding operation, is used to position the roll that is forming against a contact roller (7) that is equipped with a drive and can be displaced into a position at a distance from the roller for removing the finished wound roll. A new winding shaft that is to be accelerated to approximately the same speed as the web can be placed in the mobile bearing and the start of the web that has been formed by a severance cut can be wound onto said shaft. The contact roller comprises a respective roller (7) forming part of a star arrangement of contact rollers consisting of several rollers (7). The rollers of the contact-roller star arrangement are rotatably mounted on a frame, equidistant to the axis thereof, said frame in turn being rotatably mounted on a machine frame (1).
