In September 2010, USACE commissioned HR Wallingford to undertake a collaborative project to explore the utility of the tools and techniques that have been developed at HR Wallingford and widely used by the Environment Agency, within the US context. Through pilot application, the aim was to provide a forum for detailed scientific exchange between lead researchers at HR Wallingford and in the USACE. This report presents the findings of this study. The primary objective of the project was to: Support the USACE in developing and implementing robust and credible riskbased asset management analysis tools and techniques in practice. Secondary objectives of the research were to: To exchange information relating to asset management science and capabilities in the US and UK To explore the applicability of HR Wallingford tools and techniques in the context of the US setting To undertake a gap analysis to identify a future research needs To outline a programme of future co-ordination and collaboration with USACE.
