description | The World Wide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS) Information System (WIS) Graphics System provides an interface which will enhance the productivity of both developers and users of applications operating within the WIS environment. At the same time it is desirable to utilize existing computer graphics standards to (1) reduce the amount of development which must be funded by the WIS Program Office and (2) take advantage of commercial efforts in the area. This document specifies software requirements for the WIS Graphics System. The specifications were developed by a task force of experts in the computer graphics field. This document comprises four requirements: a)GKS Extensions (Section 3.0); b) Visual Objects Manager (Section 4.0); c) Visual Objects Editor (Section 4.0); d) Window Manager (Section 6.0). This volume is the eighth of a nine-volume set describing projects which are planned for prototype foundation technologies for WIS using the Ada programming language. The other volumes include command language; software design, description, and analysis tools; text processing; database management system; operating system; planning and optimization tools; and network protocols.
