A Bouguer Gravity Anomaly Map of Africa

A Bouguer Gravity Anomaly Map of Africa has been compiled using only terrestrial data. The map is a contoured representation of one degree x one degree mean anomaly values. Some one degree x one degree values are computed by conventional or statistical means directly from observed gravity data held at DMAAC in the DOD Gravity Library. The majority of the one degree x one degree values are predicted by geophysical-gravity correlation methods. The anomaly pattern shown on the map is discussed and evaluated with respect to regional and local tectonic and geologic patterns.
