description | EPR and IR spectroscopy methods were used to investigate polymers with conjugate carbon bonds and polymers having small conjugation sectors forming complexes with copper. The concentration of spin centers was determined by graphic integration in comparison with the signal of the investigated substance and a reference point. The polymers containing conjugate polyine groups were obtained in two ways: by dehydrochlorinating polyvinylidene chloride by sodium amide or by the reaction of oxidizing polycondensation of polyacetylene. It is concluded that when conjugation in polymer systems is increased there is a symbatic change in concentration of unpaired electrons and the background of absorption of the infrared spectra. The EPR and IR methods have demonstrated the role of copper in formation of the basic state of cumulene structure in polyine (carbine). Complex formation in the studied polymers proceeds both along the bond C=O and the triple bond C-C and is characterized by absorption bands of 1610 and 750/cm in the IR spectra and by the signal of bivalent copper in the EPR spectra. A narrow EPR signal is not characteristic of such complexes. (Author) |
