Zusammenfassung: | The study was designed to compare the effectiveness of animated and static transparencies. Three training devices differing in the number of moving parts involved in each and three testing methods differing in their emphasis on verbal factors were used. It was predicted that animated devices would be most effective when the training device contained many moving parts, and that this effectiveness would best be measured by a nonverbal performance test. One hundred and fifty male college students were assigned at random to one of three training devices and within devices, to either the animated or static training condition. Training was accomplished in small groups, each group being exposed to a standard tape recorded lecture and a particular visual device. Testing was done in groups for the verbal, written tests and individually for the performance tests. No differences between animated and static transparencies were observed with the paper and pencil tests. Significant differences appeared between the animated and static transparencies with the performance tests. (Author) |
